Ugh. Toran, jeez. This article is almost as bad as the attacks! As an expression of frustration, ok, but it cites all the worst-case comments. I have no doubt I could very easily drudge up similar material on Obama from hard-core right-wingers.
I agree much of the attacking is kind of gross in tone, and sometimes content. But this article does nothing to address the substance of it. In fact, it misrepresents the seriousness of much of it by glossing over it.
I don't know this writer, but I'm not aware of any conservative writers on the Boston Globe staff. In any case, it's interesting to see this kind of report from a liberal paper...
Also, you make a point when you say you "could drudge up" untrustworthy right wing material on Obama. I'm sure you could, but it would indeed take some effort! Not plastered day after day all over the mainstream media.
I don't think I have seen the mainstream media cover allegations against Obama...maybe they have but I don't recall it, not just recently but "over time." Certainly nobody can miss what's being said about Palin in the mainstream media. And Obama is the top guy in their ticket! Seems more important to vet the #1's even than the #2's.
The really nasty comments, you're right, but they mention the Washington Post and certainly there have been innuendos totally unfounded in the mainstream media, cable, etc.
You cannot help the poor, by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity, by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up, by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man, by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage, by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently, by doing for them what they could and should, do for themselves.
The author? Abraham Lincoln. Let's not forget what has made America great and unique in the world.

well, it has been in the past! it was just spread out over time.
keep in mind we have a very tight time frame for vetting this unknown candidate. it's crunch time. lots of unanswered questions.
